About

Hakjoon brings the deal sophistication of the world's top law firms to EPGGB's Corporate practice. He advises clients on corporate transactions, real estate matters, entity formation and governance, commercial contracts, and cross-border transactions bridging the U.S., South Korea, and Japan.

Before joining EPGGB, Hakjoon was an investment funds associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, where he led or supported the formation and closing of more than 50 private funds — from $10 million emerging manager vehicles to multi-billion-dollar flagship buyout funds. He routinely negotiated with sovereign wealth funds and global pension systems and advised on GP- and LP-led secondaries, continuation vehicles, preferred equity financings, and fund recapitalizations.

Hakjoon began his career at Kim & Chang and Shin & Kim, two of South Korea's most prestigious firms, where he structured a landmark simultaneous Korea–Japan tender offer and registered more than 30 multinational private equity funds with the Korean Financial Services Commission. Trilingual in Korean, English, and Japanese (JLPT N1), he is a distinctive resource for clients with Asia-Pacific cross-border interests.

He serves as a Board Member of the Korean American Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles (KACCLA).
